Community Education Outreach

In Rwanda, 2009, BCIEA started with 27 breast cancer patients by 2017; we had direct impact on over 10,000 people. At the end of 2019 as we celebrated our 10th Year Anniversary, we had reached over 20,000 women, men and youth with basic breast health awareness and education. This included rural and urban settings.

How it works

Training includes how to perform Breast Self-Exam, providing Clinical Breast Exam (CBE) by trained nurses and consultation by volunteer physicians whenever possible.

The focus is raising breast cancer awareness, dispelling stigma, myths and misconceptions and promoting the importance of early detection.
